Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) is the document you will use to present yourself to potential employers. It says who you are, where you've been, what you've accomplished and what you can do.

 

Most prospective employers will see your CV before they see you. They will use your CV to make initial assessments. So you will want to make your CV as effective as possible.


 

Below are components to consider in preparation of your CV: 

 

 

  q Contact Information: Name, address, phone numbers

      q Undergraduate Education: Degree and major date of 

         graduation, city & state of school

      q Medical School: Date of graduation, degree (MD or DO), 

         city and state of school

      q Residency: Type of residency, name of program, city and 

         state of program, dates attended

      q Fellowship: Type of fellowship, name of program, city and 

         state of program, dates attended

      q Practice Experience: Names of groups, hospital, or clinics, 

         length of stay, city and state

      q Licensure: State licensed via National Boards, FLEX or USMLE

      q Board Status: Eligibility and certification dates

      q   Honors & Awards: Undergrad, medical school, and 

         post-med school

      q   Publications: List of important papers and research documents

      q Personal Information: Hobbies, spouses name & occupation

         if applicable
